2006 Hawaiian Shirt OpenJune 3rd and 4th, 2006 Shooters get Rained out by Tropical WeatherNext Event is October 7-8, 2006The 2006 edition of the traditional Hawaiian Shirt Open at Markham Skeet was a success in spite of weather issues that shortened the 410 event for most of the shooters. Only 4 of the 14 entrants in this event were able to complete 100 targets before weather halted shooting with rain and lightning in the area. Turnout was excellent for this time of year with 20 shooters total (sixteen shooting each day) and 5500 targets thrown. This is the same turnout we had two years ago, up from the 14 shooters who attended last years event. Gun Champs A 99 and three 98's topped the 16 entries in the12 gauge event, with Chuck "The 99" Farnham coming out on top. Geoff "The Dark Side" Peters took Runner Up honors and Harvey Zipkin placed third, both with 98's. (The remaining 98 was posted by Chuck Fohlbrook who took B Class honors.) The Farnham,-Fergeson-Fohlbrook triad all posted 97's for the
20 Gauge. When all 16 entrants completed this event, Chuck "The Heartbreaker"
Farnham was the Gun Champ on the long run tie-breaker, with Bill Fergeson Runner
Up and Chuck Fohlbrook placing Third. I know what you're thinking - "Boy, I'd like to see some new names in the winner's circle!" - and I can deliver just that with the 28 gauge results. Chuck "The Homeboy" Farnham was NOT the Gun Champ, but Chuck "The Crusher" Fohlbrook was. "Homeboy" was third, and Carlos Solis placed as Runner Up. Gee, with 11 entries, you'd think we could get many new names in the winners circle! Watch out guys, NEXT TIME! The controversial 410 event as based on the results as posted, and that means that only the 4 shooters who actually completed all 100 targets had a shot a gun champ. There were several contenders that were bumped from the race by the weather, as scores were good among many of the 10 shooters in the last group. Champ was Chuck "The Weatherman" Farnham with a "Saved by the lightning alarm" 93. Runner up was Frank "But you can call me Doug" Chapman with an 85 and placing third was David Alexandrich with an 83. Class Champs Bill Hataway took 2 class champ honors, the only shooter with
the "multiple class champ" distinction this month. Other Class Champion winners
were (in no particular order) Glen Rieske, Tony Cicchirillo, Myles Spodak, Mike
Baranet, Frank "Doug" Chapman, Harvey Zipkin, Gary Stoye, John Stewart, Herb
Gould, Carlos Solis, Chuck Fohlbrook, Steven Sagal, and the Husband and Wife duo
of Charlie and Rick De Angelis. High Over AllNot withstanding the open invitation to "Beat Me" posted with Chuck Farnhams's 93 in the 410, there was only a single shooter within striking distance of Chuck's 4 gun total. Chuck Fohlbrook had an opportunity to grab the HOA crown from The Weatherman. However, he did manage to miss enough in the first 75 of his 410 event to avoid the HOA title. Under challenging conditions Mr. Farnham (as he will henceforth be referred to) deserves the HOA Champion Crown, with all attendant Rights and Privledges. Well Done! Chuck Fohlbrook shall be crowned Runner Up. Complete Results are posted here: Thanks to all who attended and to Steve Sagal for handling the food arrangements for both days of this shoot. Thanks to Ellen Rieske (and anyone I overlooked). Your support is appreciated!
