2007 Dave Knapp Memorial
Club Championships

January 27th, 2007
A 50 Target per Event Tournament

Winkley Captures Club HOA Skeet Crown

Due to a scheduling error (reserving  January 28th for a Trap Tournament when in fact there was no Trap Tournament that day), we were only able to plan a one day shoot for this years Club Championships. This shortened program meant we'd have to opt for a format change. We decided to shoot 50 Targets in each gauge for the Club Skeet Championship and forego Doubles to ease scheduling. The Gauges were shot 12-20-28-410 order.

It was well attended with 18 participants (three new club members) and 3000 targets were thrown. These numbers are good when you consider that I was not able to shoot, Glen Rieske was not able to attend or shoot, none of our Miami members attended and no Doubles were thrown. Great turn out for the local guys!

Prizes were awarded to HOA Champ, Runner-Up and 3rd, HOA Class Champs, Gun Champs and Gun Class Champs. Prizes consisted of Hoppe's Bore Snake Gun Cleaners in various gauges for the Gun Champs and Ammo (20 gauge Remington STS) for the others. There was some mixing and matching and most winners went away happy.

12 Gauge Event

It seems strange that the 12 Gauge at our shoots is never the "average leader". Only one shooter managed a 50 - Gun Champion David Winkley. There were no 49's in the big gun, and the lone 48 belonged to Chuck Fohlbrook (A1). Other class Champions were Steven Sagal (B1), Zeke Walker (C1), and Jennifer Canfield (D1).

20 Gauge Event

The 20 Gauge Event was another "low scoring" event lacking a single 50. A pair of 49's were posted by Mark O'Mara and David Winkley, with O'Mara prevailing in the shoot-off for Gun Champ. Class Champions were David Alexandrich (A1), David Winkley (B1), Doug Chapman (C1) and Jennifer Canfield (D1).

28 Gauge Event

Once again the 28 Gauge Event was the "average leader" at our tournament. Three 50's were posted: Chuck Farnham, Chuck Fohlbrook and Mark O'Mara. There was no shoot-off, Chuck Farnham was MIA, and Chuck Fohlbrook and Mark O'Mara settled it with a Coin Toss. Fohlbrook demonstrated his skill at coin toss by winning the toss. Class Champs were Winkley (AA1), O'Mara (A1), John Stewart (B1), Myles Spodak (C1) and Jennifer Canfield (D1).

410 Event

Only one 50 was posted in the "little gun", by Gun Champ David Winkley. Chuck Fohlbrook took A1 and John Stewart took B1. C1 went to Tom Keipert, and D1 was once again Jennifer Canfield.

HOA Event

Only three targets separated the HOA Champion David Winkley (195) from Runner Up Chuck Fohlbrook (192), and five more to get to Third Place finisher Chuck Farnham (187). Class winners were Tom Keipert (C1) and Jennifer Canfield (E1). Thanks to all who attended and made this unusual tournament especially enjoyable.

Our Next Event..."The Teddy"

Our next shoot is not until March 3-4, 2007 due to all the shoots planned here at Markham and elsewhere. Hope to see you at "The Teddy" where we will raise a donation for Teddy Montoto's son. Please attend if you can!
