Upcoming Shoots:

A suggestion from Chuck Fohlbrook while at "The World Shoot" has led to the renaming of a shoot.
Last year I named the Opener the "Your Name Here" Opener, shamelessly hoping for a sponsor. And none came forward, so that worked real well! Chuck said that he thought I should name that shoot the following year for the HOA winner of the shoot. I liked his idea and told him I'd implement it, only to find that I had won the shoot last year. Chuck was, by the way, the Runner Up last year. My name appearing on the schedule isn't "official" at the NSSA for this shoot or in the magazine, but you get the idea.
The good news is this years winner will have their name attached officially to the shoot scheduled for November of 2008.
Bring your "A" game shooters and make the schedule and the magazine!

We have scheduled 9 registered shoots for the upcoming skeet year. We have held the price at last years level, but it will be more difficult to offer prizes as we are not much above what is needed to operate. We can use a sponsor or two, all that is required is to provide lunch (or reimburse us for the costs of lunch), or provide some gifts for the shooters or provide prizes for the winners. I'd love to add your name to the Patriot or the wildly famous Hawaiian Shirt Open.  We can also use volunteers to help with the shoots, and we can have additional shoots in the future if you care to participate in running them. Talk to us about how you can help! If you can help pick up supplies, or clean up after lunch or pick up lunch, it's all appreciated.

Registered Targets are available in most months in the coming year as well. If you wish to record registered Monthly Targets, please speak to me about getting them done!

If you are happy (or not happy) with operations, improvements or conditions at the range, you need to be heard. And I don't mean telling me or the Club officers. We already speak to the powers that be about these concerns, we need you to speak out and be heard. Contact information is available on the website. You don't have to call the President or write to your Congressman, but DO speak to Range or Park Management, or contact your Commissioner via phone or email. And remember that it doesn't hurt to say thanks for the things that are good and right - like new shade/rain structures, lighting upgrades, concrete under the tables and the helpful Range Officers we all like so much. Speak up about the good things as well.

Speaking Of Lights

I had the lighting plans used to aim the new lights at the range reviewed by two sports lighting professionals I work with or for. They both agreed that optimal lighting comes from following the plans. It is particularly important that the plans be followed with this type of lighting they say, as the lights from the adjoining fields support each other to reduce shadows and provide even lighting. I have found that the lights are very good and a big improvement over the old lights. Now if we can get the last field (Field 2) lit up... we sure miss it on Skeet Night!

Until next month, Keep your head down,
"Lowgun"
