2008 S&H Systems ShootWinds Can't Deter Big TurnoutFarnham Takes Another HOA CrownThe 2008 edition of the S&H Systems Shoot was well attended with 7,650 targets thrown for 31 different shooters over the two day event. Several members of Trail Trap and Skeet were able to attend and make their presence known with good scores. Lunch was provided for the event by S&H Systems Services, Inc. with the help of Vonda Haynie and Imogene Parkhurst. Ellen Rieske again helped with the dining efforts and her help is always appreicated. S&H also provided Gun Wipes to the registered 4 gun shooters. The 12 Gauge EventScoring a 100 at Markham is difficult, even with the big gun, and today was no exception. A pair of 98's were posted, by Carlos Solis and Chuck Farnham. Long run was used to determine the winner, Carlos Solis. Chuck Farnham earned Runner Up. 97 was good enough for 3rd place, again decided by long run between Andre Williams and Steve Haynie, with Williams taking 3rd place. A1 went to Haynie, B1 to Rene Lamar, C1 to Paul Polack, D1 to Chuck Reller and E1 to Tony Cicchirillo. The 20 Gauge EventThe second Saturday event was the 20 Gauge. The winds had increased and made scoring tougher this afternoon. A single 97 was posted, by Howard Chin to take Gun Champ. 96's were posted by Steve Sagal (Runner Up) and Carlos Solis (3rd) with the tie broken by long run. Way to plan those misses! Class Winners were Steve Haynie (A1), Paul Polack (B1), Chuck Reller (C1) and Kevin O'Mara (D1). The 28 Gauge Event Once again the winds subsided and scores improved. The 98 posted by Mark O'Mara took Gun Champ and the 97 posted by Chuck Farnham grabbed Runner Up. Long run settled a tie at 96 for 3rd Place, with Steve Haynie (3rd) besting David Lee (A1). Other class champions were Glen Rieske, Andre Williams and Tony Pichardo. Congrats to all! The 410 Event The little gun is seldom friendly on Markham afternoons, with that sea breeze from the east gusting and making the targets bounce against the broken background. Art Kissel managed to post an event best 95 to take Gun Champ, and Bill Ferguson posted a 93 for Runner Up. Long run once again settled a tie for third place between Fred Azan (3RD) and Carlos Solis (A1). Gary "Nice of you to Join Us" Stoye posted a 91 to claim B Class, and Robert Vazquez took C class with the same score. D Class went to Steve Sagal with an 83. Good work guys! The Doubles Event Five entries in the 50 target Doubles event shot Saturday afternoon. The winners were Mark O'Mara (CH), Glen Rieske (RU), Chuck Reller (3rd). The High Over All Event Posting the winners of this event I was reminded that every target is important. Only 1 target separated Champion and Third place! Tied at 376, Carlos Solis and Chuck "The Weatherman" Farnham settled it the old fashioned way - we used long run! Neither was present for any shoot off, so it was the only option available. Third Place went to Steve Haynie, one target behind at 375. Class winners were Glen Rieske, Fred Azan and Steve Sagal. Complete Results are available at these links
Other News We will be changing our shoot format effective at the next shoot (January 5-6. 2008) to shoot the smaller gauges first each day. That should make the little guns more "average friendly"! The new shoot order will be 410, 20 and Doubles on Saturday, and 28 and 12 on Sunday. This compliments Trail Trap and Skeets' program so that opposite guns are shot on Sunday. Your input is, as always, appreciated.
