2008 Teddy Montoto MemorialMarch 1-2, 2008 at Markham Park Jack Canady Captures HOAProfessional Skeet Referee (and darned good shooter!) Jack "Shooter" Canady captured the High Over All title at this years "Teddy". 20 different Shooters shot 6200 targets over the two day event. This shoot saw the newly implemented shoot order of 410 - 20 - 28 -12. Last month it lifted 410 score a little, and the overall trend continued. (Your opinion of this change is welcome.) Jack Canady only gets to shoot with us once in a while, and man, did he make it count! Posting 98's to take Gun Champion in 12 and 20, Jack posted a third 98 in the 28 gauge, losing the tie breaker for Gun Champ but taking Runner Up. His 410 score of 91 was only three targets off the Gun Champs 94 in that event. And to top it off, he posted a 46 in Doubles, one target off Gun Champ in that event and took 3rd. Wow. Excellent shooting. Hereby referred to as "Shooter", you have officially earned a Markham Nickname! Runner Up in HOA went to Chuck "The Weatherman" Farnham, playing the bridesmaid this month. Not far behind was 3rd over all Glen "Two A Day" Rieske, who once again edged out Steve "One Bird Short" Haynie by one little target (Darn that High One!) Glen posted pairs of scores, two 93's on Saturday and two 94's on Sunday, now that's consistent! Ralph "Rocky" Long was Grand Gourmet Lunch Chairman for this shoot and we thank him for his efforts. While I might think providing cookies to the shooters is "spoiling" them, the shooters all enjoyed the treat. Assorted sandwich makings and a variety of chips made for a good lunch. Be sure and thank him should you see him. Complete results are posted on the web as per usual. RESULTS
Skeet League Starts March 4thRalph "Rocky" Long has been busy with another task, starting up the Markham Skeet league for the first time in recent memory. Originally we thought 20 shooters could participate on one field but our first evening demonstrated that two five man teams push a field to capacity. We shot the first round of 50 targets on March 4th. The field can get six 5 man flights through in the evening window, perfect for one practice round and two League rounds per team. Steve "New Pilot" Sagal has the only 50 posted so far, shooting from the lead off spot, and it's only 450 more to his first 500 of 500! The original two teams are full, and at least two other shooters are interested in participating, but we will need a few more to get another field committed to the League on Tuesday nights. If you are interested in participating in the next league cycle, contact Rocky at rocky_long@hotmail.com . Each league cycle is 10 weeks long, 50 targets per week (500 total), costs $15 plus standard target costs, can be registered with the NSSA if you wish for the $3/100 fee ($15 additional), and is a lot of fun. You must be a MSTSC Club member, but do not have to be an NSSA member. We are attempting to recruit more help so we can run another field next cycle, co step up and volunteer! Next: The 2008 Glen Rieske Open and Club ChampionshipApril 5th and 6th we will host the The 2008 Glen Rieske Open and Club Championship at Markham Skeet. The first 18 multi-gun registrants will receive a special gift from shoot sponsor and Skeet Co-Chairman Glen Rieske. Multiple guns must be registered at the same time to qualify for this gift. MSTSC members will be eligible for the Skeet Club Champion pin to be awarded to the top HOA score among members. You may join at the shoot and be eligible. Your dues must be current, and can be paid at the shoot.
