SKEET REPORT FOR NOVEMBER, 2003

                                                   THE OPENER
The wind and new guns made the targets challenging...

November 1-2, 2003

Gary Stoye at The Kreighoff Masters, Forest City Gun Club, Savannah, Georgia

The Opener marked the first shoot of the new skeet season.  This was the first event at which we awarded trophies.

Wood & Marble trophies were awarded to Gun Champions in 12, 20, 28, .410, and Doubles.  Class Champions were awarded for A & up, B, C, D & down in all guns except Doubles.

This also marked the first shoot where we had a "shoot program" with specific gauges on specific days for awards and trophies.  We implemented this change to allow us to distribute prizes at the end of each day, allowing shooters to take their prizes home with them each day. Prizes awarded included ammunition, "Bore-Snakes" and "Gun Wipes", as well as the trophies.

RESULTS

OVERALL
Scores were close, and the wind made it a challenging tournament.  Chuck Farnham returned to Markham with a new gun that fit well enough to squeak out a win in HOA with a 378.  Steve Haynie was Runner up at 376 and Glen Rieske was right behind at 375 for third.

GUN CHAMPS
In 12 Gauge Chuck Farnhams' 97 held up over the 96's of Glen Rieske and Mike Gosik.  John Kurutz posted a 96 and edged out Steve Haynie's 95 for 20 gauge Gun Champ.  Steve Haynie was 28 gauge Gun Champ with a 97, one target better than the 96's of Glen Rieske and Chuck Farnham.  The closest contest of all was the .410, where three 92's were at the top.  Long Run tie-breaker rules gave the Gun Championship to Glen Rieske over Chuck Farnham and Steve Haynie.  Luis Isaias took top Doubles Honors with a 90.

CLASS CHAMPIONS
Shooters winning Class Honors included Mike Gosik in the .410, Steven Sagal in both the 20 and 28 (should have shot all the gauges!), and Stuart Fox for his 94 in 12 ga. D Class. Newcomers Richard Gabriel took 12 ga. E1 to take home a trophy, ammo and Gun Wipes.  Stacy Draper also joined the NSSA and began shooting with us and was awarded the New Shooter Class Champion Trophy.

OTHER ITEMS OF INTEREST

Heard of Todd Bender? There is a chance you can get instruction from Todd here at Markham in February or March or 2004.  You will need to move quickly as space is limited.  The cost is remarkably reasonable (thanks in part to a change in the Markham Park costs), and only 4 peole are needed to conduct the class.  Contact RICHARD GABRIEL at (954) 699-6238 for additional information.

HIGH VOLUME SHOOTING

Markham Skeet is well represented in the High Volume ranks - at least as of November 17th! We were the first scores posted on the NSSA web site this year!  See Of Interest (http://www.markhamskeet.org/OfInterest.htm) for the details!

NEXT SHOOT

Come out December 6th and 7th for the S&H SYSTEMS SHOOT.  A gift is in store for the first 50 registered shooters.
