“THE
DUKE”
May 15th & 16th
at Markham Skeet was wet, dry, windy and calm - well, not calm. Our turn
out was typical for this time of year - 11 shooters per day shot a total
of 3500 targets. Honoring the memory of John Wayne, an American Hero,
Chuck Farnham won the US Mint medal.
(A replica medal, struck at the US Mint, of the Congressional Gold Medal
awarded to John Wayne's family, was the special HOA prize.)
We also had several new members of the NSSA and MST&SC
join at this shoot, so welcome them to our sport!
Sunday Lunch was sponsored by Steven Sagal and
Worldwide Communications,
featuring Uncle Al's chicken wings and fries and a terrific
birthday cake celebrating Teddy Brooks 10th birthday. Many thanks
to Steve for his generosity!
IN OTHER NEWS:
Mark O'Mara, Kevin O'Mara and Steve Sagal all won
medal and awards at the recent MASTER'S event in Savannah.
Congratulations are in order for their achievements at the second
largest skeet in the world.
RESULTS
(Due to time, weather and fatigue, we did not have
Doubles competition this time.)
Chuck Farnham "circled his wagon" and braved the wind to
wrap up Gun Championships in 20 gauge and the .410, the Runner Up in 12
gauge
(and lost the Gun Champ in the 28 only on the tie-breaker)
to win the High Over All.
Other Gun Champs were Steve Haynie in the 28 gauge squeaking out
in the tie-breaker, and Jim Vahey in the 12 gauge. Jim was
able to maintain his concentration in spite of a prolonged rain delay
half way through the round. That delay gave us a chance to compare
standing and it was a close race between Sagal, Rieske, Vahey, Haynie
and Mindock at the halfway mark.
Class Championships and
RU/3rds went to:
Glen Rieske in all 4 gauges and HOA
Steven Sagal in all 4 gauges and HOA
Steve Haynie in 20 and HOA
John Mindock in .410 and HOA
Fred Adrio in 20 gauge
Geoffrey Peters in 12 gauge
and
Steven Vensel in 12 gauge
